This festival is celebrated to mark the reunion of Goddess Parvati with Lord Shiva, after a penance of hundred years.

Newly wedded brides return to their parental home from their in-laws house to celebrate Teej. On this auspicious occasions, ladies keep fasting, decorate their hands and feet with mehendi, and dressed up in new saris. They adorned the idol of Goddess Parvati and pay their homage to the deity for a blissful marital life and for the well being of their husbands.

Delhi Tourism Board is doing a commendable job. Every year it is organizes Teej festival at different venues within Delhi city, so that Delhites don't miss the charm of Jaipur and Jodhpur's Teej festival. This year it is going to be held at the Dilli haat opposite INA market. The proposed date for 2009's Teej festival is from 23rd July to 26th July.

The Tourism Board of Delhi in collaboration with Rajasthan Tourism Board, has decorated Dilli haat in a special way, so that it suit the theme of Teej. Swings are put up every where in Dilli haat, so that you can enjoy and go back to your childhood days.
