Agra,a city that mirrors the eternal love of a Mughal emperor for his beloved wife, is positioned on the banks of river Yamuna in Uttar Pradesh. It is that city of India which houses the most precious treasure of Mughal architectural zenith.

Every year millions of globetrotters visit this erstwhile Mughal capital to witness the magnificent epitome of true love, known as Taj Mahal. This monument of white marble is considered as one of the seven 'Wonders of World'. Apart from this UNESCO World Heritage Monument, the nearby area of Agra also has some more alluring places of tourist value.

Fatehpur Sikri: Located approximately 45 km from Agra, Fatehpur Sikri is an imperial city of bygone Mughal dynasty. It was established by the Great Emperor Akbar, in between 1571 to 1585A.D to show his gratitude to the Sufi saint Salim Chisti, whose blessings has helped him to gain the immense pleasure of being a father. Its is a city predominantly made up of red sand stone and has several architectural masterpieces. Some of the famous monument of this present day deserted city are Diwan-i-aam, Diwan-khana-i-khas, Jodha bai's palace, Bulund Darwaza, Jami Masjid and many more.

Sikandra: Located on Delhi-Agra Highway, just 10 km away from Agra Fort, Sikandara is the last resting place of the Great Mughal Emperor Akbar. The main attraction of the place is the tomb of Akbar, which was designed by him. The architecture of the tomb is fine blend of Mughal and Hindu architectural designs. It is beautified with exquisite patterns, excellent jaalis, persian style calligraphy, canopies and Char bagh garden etc.

Bateshwar: Bateshwar is a small temple town that lies on the banks of river Yamuna and situated at a distance of 70 km from Agra. This dusty of Uttar Pradesh was ruled by King Badan Singh of the Bhadawar dynasty. He has built the Bateshwarnath Temple along with some more temple on the bank of river Yamuna. Every year during the month of Kartik(October/November) Bateshwar comes alive with the annual cattle fair.
Mathura: One of the most revered pilgrimage destinations of Hindus in India is Mathura. This ancient city of Uttar Pradesh is approximately 58 km from Agra. It has numerous temples of Lord Krishna as Mathura is the birth place of him. Some of the prime attractions of Mathura are Shri Krishna Janambhumi temple, Dwarkadeesh temple, Vishram Ghat etc. Don't miss out to attend the colorful Holi and Krishna janmashtami festival of Mathura.

Aligarh: Aligarh another nearby attraction of Agra (80 km), is a famed hub of higher education in India. This central Uttar Pradesh city has one of the most pioneered education centre named Aligarh Muslim University. It was established by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan to spread modern education among the Indian Muslims. Beside it other prime attraction of Aligarh are Aligarhi pyjamas, patchwork embroidery(patti ka kaam), and gajak, a sweet made of sesame seeds and jaggery.
Beside them you can also add some more destinations in your tourist itinerary such as Ram Bagh, Bharatpur Bird Sancturay, Vrindaban etc.
