TAJ MAHAL TO HAVE ECO FRIENDLY GOLF CARTS
Wednesday, August 12, 2009

In the wake of growing concerns over preservation of Taj Mahal, Supreme Court has banned vehicles emitting pollution, to come within the range of 500 m from the marble monument. Following this rule, the Agra Development Authority (ADA) has devised an innovative way to serve the tourists and preserve the stunning historical structure as well.
Battery operated golf carts are the new machines that will make the task easier for the authorities, as it will offer both the domestic as well as foreign tourists a unique experience of getting close with the divine monument of love, while sitting in these carts.
These state of the art golf carts have been imported from China and can travel upto 60 km once fully charged. There are currently twelve such golf carts helping tourists to commute from the western gate of the Taj Mahal towards the main structure. Once the idea is fully operational the authorities will bring on more vehicles to cater the growing tourist rush in the monument.
The charges for the same are kept nominal, 10 rupees per ticket, so that even the local tourists can manage to experience the unique way of sightseeing. Till now the traveler reviews have been good and more people are looking forward to make a golf cart trip of Taj Mahal. Earlier too the vehicles were without air condition systems, so conditions are expected to be much better now with open air carts accommodating 15 people at a go, without hurting the environment and the crowing monument of India.
